Target Audience Research #2
Ouija is a very popular movie that came out in 2014. It is based off of the game "Ouija" which has been popular since the nineteenth century. This is why it is clear that the movie is directed toward an audience of ages 22 and younger. Board games and scary games are things that many adults seldom find time for. Also, the actors and actresses of the film are teenagers or younger, just like in our film. In the movie, the teenage friends are working together to reach a common goal. People in real life may get feeling of nostalgia when watching this, as they may have tried something similar with their friends before. The movie does not have much to do with any certain income level and people don't have to have any amount of money to relate to it.
Ouija went big with their advertising techniques. They were the first advertisement ever featured on Snapchat. This is huge because Snapchat is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. Snapchat is mainly used by teens to talk to their friends and teens who talk to their friends a lot are likely to go watch a movie with them. Many Youtube channels featured the film's trailer and got millions of views. One channel in particular, Universal Studios, is the most popular of the featuring accounts and gained the upcoming movie 4 million viewers. The cover photo (on the right) and other photos of the film were featured on posters in popular stores like Walmart.
