Film Project- Use of Conventions

Mae and I's film follows a few traditional methods used in horror films. We utilized the effect of suspense to make our film more intriguing and capture the audience's attention. Suspense puts an audience at the edge of their seat, and when watching a horror film, the audience expects something frightening to happen. In our film, we establish that Mae knows who the man in the truck is and is scared of him. Then we show Michael fiddling with a knife inside the truck, implying that it will be used towards Mae. This makes the audience want to know how the upcoming situation will go down and it makes them think that something frightening will go down. One thing that we did that is not usually done in horror films is film in broad daylight. A reason for doing this is because it is more difficult to film in the dark and appropriately capture the desired essences of our production. Our film represents the issue of male on female violence. This issue is prevalent all over the world due to the wrongful mentality of some men and the defenselessness of some women.
