Film Project Genre Research- It(1990)

Image result for 1990 itThe second opening scene I chose to observe was from the original version of It. In the scene, the producers introduce an evil clown and his victim, a little girl named Lauriane. The first couple of shots are of some sheets hanging from a clothes line and blowing in the wind with dark clouds behind them and then the camera cuts to an insert of a set of tea cups with moving water in them (moving from the wind) sitting outside of the house. When the camera is on the tea cups, it lists the names of the editors in an old fashion white font. Once the names disappear, the camera cuts to a lower mid-shot of a little girl's legs on a tricycle with its wheels spinning as she pedals along the sidewalk. The camera zooms out and follows the little girl on the bike with track, panning as she makes the turn into her house. As the girl rides her bike, there is no noise except her singing and bike squeaking. When she reaches her home, the camera cuts to a midshot of her mom telling her to hurry up and get inside because the storm is coming. The camera then cuts to a midshot of the little girl looking off to the left of the camera. The camera then cuts back and forth between the clothes and sheets hanging on the line. After a few cuts, a clowns face appears in the sheets and intense insdental music starts playing. The camera then begins to cut back and forth, but the girl looks scared now and the clown keeps getting closer. Then the camera cuts to a POV of the clown as he runs out of the sheets towards the girl and an automated shriek plays loudly once he reaches her face. Then, the music stops and the camera fades to black.
